Murderer of Trooper Sentenced to Life in Prison

Today, overwhelming support was shown by our uniform and plain clothes members in Jefferson County Court as Justin Walters was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole for murdering Trooper Joel Davis on July 9, 2017. Last month, a jury found Walters guilty on all 52 counts, including two counts of first-degree murder, three counts of attempted murder and multiple counts of weapons possession. Using an AR-15 semiautomatic rifle, Walters shot and killed his wife, shot and injured a family friend and shot and killed Trooper Davis as he responded to the domestic incident in the town of Theresa. We continue to remember and honor Trooper Davis for his ultimate sacrifice.
