NYS Trooper Killed in the Line of Duty

The New York State Troopers Police Benevolent Association mourns the loss of one of our members, Trooper Nicholas F. Clark, who was shot and killed in the line of duty early this morning while responding to a domestic incident. Trooper Clark, 29, had served the people of the state of New York as a Trooper for three years.

Tragically, Trooper Clark is the 26th member of the New York State Police to die in the line of duty since 2006. It was almost one year ago, on July 9, 2017, that Trooper Joel R. Davis was shot and killed in the line of duty in Theresa, Jefferson County, also while responding to a domestic incident.

“Trooper Clark is a hero who made the ultimate sacrifice in the name of serving and protecting others. Despite the inherent dangers in today’s society, our Troopers have answered – and will continue to answer – the call of duty again and again,” said PBA President Thomas H. Mungeer. “Our thoughts and prayers are with Trooper Clark’s family, friends and fellow Troopers.”

The PBA, as the labor union, will assist with arrangements for the line-of-duty death funeral, as well as assist Trooper Clark’s family and fellow Troopers with whatever needs arise.

The PBA’s charity, the Signal 30 Benefit Fund, is accepting donations on behalf of the family of Trooper Clark.

The Signal 30 Fund was created to support the members of the New York State Police and their families in extraordinary circumstances such as line-of-duty death, illness, injury, and loss of residence to fires or floods. By donating through the Signal 30 Fund, 100 percent of the funds earmarked for Troopers and their families will go directly to them – there are no administrative fees. The NYS Troopers PBA Signal 30 Fund is a federally recognized 501 (c)(3) and contributions are tax deductible.

Donations to the Signal 30 Fund can be made by check or credit card.
