NYS Trooper Stabbed In Neck; Expected to Make Full Recovery

New York State Trooper Rodney Smith, a 15-year veteran of the New York State Police, is expected to make a full recovery after being stabbed in the neck during an unprovoked attack by a man while the two were talking at the Empire State Plaza on Sunday. Trooper Smith underwent surgery at Albany Medical Center Hospital and is recovering. Police are still looking for the suspect, who fled the scene with the Trooper’s police radio. The job of a New York State Trooper is dangerous and unpredictable, and the PBA wishes Trooper Smith the best in his recovery.
